Look at this combination! Does the close-up on the corner remind you of champagne bubbles?

Here I have on two coats of Milani’s Violet Dash with one coat of Lavender layered on top. Violet Dash is a beautiful violet creme, and just as the name suggests, it dries in a dash! Lavender is a fun glitter polish in a clear base. It is filled with two sizes of purple hex glitter. If you have been reading my blog, you know I LOVE glitter polishes, so this is just perfect for me. I had no trouble with the application of these polishes - both are very smooth and non-streaky.

You can purchase these Milani polishes at your local CVS, Target, or Walgreens for $4.49/bottle. They are also available on Amazon and the Milani website.

1.) Get a straight pin. You’ll notice there are different sizes when you’re at a fabric store (we used superfine for this).

2.) Get a number 2 pencil with an eraser or one of those retractable erasers as seen above.

3.) Insert the pin into the eraser. Try to keep it straight. If you push it into the eraser and notice it’s crooked, just bend it a little to center it. That will insure you get a perfect dot every time.

4.) Dip + dot!

Shepard Fairey Piece of the Day: Ebony magazine commissioned street artist Shepard Fairey (of Obeyand HOPE fame) to create artwork of the late Trayvon Martin to accompany a piece in this month’s issue. Fairey writes:

I have followed Trayvon’s case closely and I think any compassionate human being can relate to Trayvon as a brother or son and would want to see a thorough investigation into the killing of an unarmed person. In my portrait I wanted to emphasize Trayvon’s humanity as well as the public outcry for a just investigation into his death.

“I don’t think it’s terribly controversial to note that women, from a young age, are required to consider the reality of the opposite gender’s consciousness in a way that men aren’t. This isn’t to say that women don’t often misunderstand, mistreat, and stereotype men, both in literature and in life. But on a basic level, functioning in society requires that women register that men are fully conscious; it is not really possible for a woman to throw up her hands and write men off as eternally unknowable space aliens — and even if she says she has, she cannot really behave as though she has. Every element of her life — from reading books about boys and men to writing papers about the motivations of male characters to being attentive to her own safety to navigating most any institutional or professional or economic sphere — demands an ironclad familiarity with, and belief in, the idea that men really are fully human entities. And no matter how many men come to the same conclusions about women, the structure of society simply does not demand so strenuously that they do so. If you didn’t really deep down believe that women were, in general, exactly as conscious as you, you could probably still get by in life. You could probably still get a book deal. You could probably still get elected to office.”

Missing Katniss and Peeta already? Catching Fire‘s November 2013 release date seem like an eternity away? Not to worry: Later this summer you’ll be able to watch The Hunger Games at home. The movie hits Blu-ray, DVD, and digital download at 12:01 a.m. on Aug. 18.

The two-disc set will include over three hours of unreleased material, including interviews with the cast and crew and details about some of the story lines that differed from the book — like President Snow’s character (Donald Sutherland) and the role of the game maker (Wes Bentley). An eight-part documentary called The World is Watching: Making of The Hunger Games delves into the behind-the-scenes aspect of creating the film. The extras also include the full-length “Propaganda Film” shown during the Reaping.
